First, the story of the ever inquisitive boss who became interested in the ‘bumps’ on our daughter’s chest.

Today is our daughter’s 3 month birthday.  In fact, this post was published exactly 3 months to the minute after her birth.  I can’t believe how fast that time has gone by.

This week my wife started a new blog.  Her first post was a narrative of the day our daughter was born.  Check it out.

How much of a danger is there in posting family pictures and disclosing family names to a blog or to other sites on the Internet?  On one hand, the Internet is a great place to share pictures with people that you know.  It’s also a great way for people who don’t know you to get to know you better.  On the other hand, there could be a danger if some wacko collects enough information about you and your family to do harm.

I really really want to be able to use names and faces of my family in this blog.  But, I am really really scared to do so.  What does everyone out there think?  I am interested to hear your comments.  Just don’t mention any names .

OK, this is my first blog post.

I guess I should make an attempt to explain my purpose for this blog.  Like any other blog, this is a forum for my thoughts, reactions, and ideas.  But, unlike some other blogs, I don’t plan to have a specific agenda or theme.  I have many different interests and I will not limit my blog to any one specific format or subject matter.  I have no idea how often I will post, and I have no idea how many people will care.

I do hope for my blog to take on a life of its own.  If posts do begin to follow a common pattern in theme or format, then, that is just the life of this blog.  It is what it is and I want it to take on a life of its own.  But, know this up front, that I have no defining plans for this blog at all.

Of course, I can guess at some of the common topics that I will most likely discuss.

I have 2 boys – ages 4 and 2 and I have a daughter on the way.  I am happily married to a wonderful woman who I really don’t know how I could live without.  So, I am sure I will share a lot about our lives together.

I am a christian and I have lots of feelings about what that means and what it should be about.  No doubt I will delve into that many times in this blog.

I am a huge sports fan.  I follow most closely the Dallas Mavericks and Dallas Cowboys.  I follow those teams and their respective leagues pretty closely, but I also keep an eye on the entire sports world in general.  Don’t be alarmed when you see posts that fall into that category.

I work in the IT industry, but I would not consider myself a techie.  From time to time, I may have something technical to talk about.  But, I think far more frequently than that, I will have something to talk about that involves my experiences and thoughts around the workplace in general.  Afterall, I do spend 40 hrs a week in corporate cubicle america!

Those are probably the categories that most of my posts will fall into.  But I am sure there will be other miscellaneous topics thrown in for fun.

One thing that I do not plan for this blog is perfection.  If you are looking for a blog that only has perfectly formed grammar and spelling, this may not be the one for you.  If, on the other hand, you are interested in following a real person with real thoughts, then jump on board and enjoy the ride.  This should be fun.
